Sarah Newman is a Costume Technician, Dresser, & Designer based in Nashville, Tennessee. She currently works as a freelance stitcher and dresser with the Nashville Ballet, Nashville Repertory Theatre, and Nashville Childrens’ Theatre. She joined IATSE Local 915 as a full member in September 2023. In May 2021 she graduated from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, Dance, and Performance Technology. Sarah enjoys dancing, quilting, and garment sewing in her free time. 

Sarah works with IATSE Local 915 as a dresser on multiple national tours stopping in Nashville. She continues to work as a dresser with the Nashville Ballet on several shows, including Black Lucy and the Bard which was released as a part of PBS’s 50th Anniversary season of Great Performances. Additionally, Sarah has worked the Vail Dance Festival for three years as a Wardrobe Assistant, and for Forestburgh Playhouse as the Wardrobe Supervisor during the 2021 season.

While at the University of Dayton, she worked as a Costume Shop Assistant, stitching and working Wardrobe Crew for Mainstage productions. She was involved in University of Dayton’s Studio Theatre, the student run theatre club, where she acted and continued to design costumes. Sarah was an Executive Board Member for two years, helping to plan shows and social events, including virtual shows and events through the COVID-19 pandemic. ​
